No we developed skills and learned the mechanics. This does not mean you will not hit the target. So when you blind fire where you think the enemy will be say in a storm over 8km away you get no benefit to the shot cause you are not locked on.
WG however does modify your shot when you target something. So with that way off viewing things, there are no Cheat's in WOW's, other than the WG permitted ones. Is a indicator that turns red or yellow or green when you aim at a ship also aim assist? Here is where WG rules and reality clash a bit. On the other hand WG has a policy that clearly states, that no mod or other things that helps the player aim or shoot are allowed. WG claims you cant use cheat mods off your own device do to the way game is managed, and this statement has never been contradicted. The answer is a lot more tricky than the question. Well this is clearly a question many have asked them selves over time, getting suddenly killed when not spotted at all.
